ZIMBABWE HEMOPHILIA ASSOCIATION

Improving and sustaining care for people living with bleeding disorders

ABOUT US
The Zimbabwe Hemophilia Association (ZHA) is a registered welfare organisation in Zimbabwe and it was established in 2016. We are dedicated to improve the care and quality of life among people with hemophilia through awareness programs, diagnosis and treatment assistance, research and advocacy as well as enhancing economic empowerment to the vulnerable.
WHAT IS HAEMOPHILIA
Haemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder characterized by low levels or a complete absence of specific proteins known as 'clotting factors,' leading to improper blood clotting. Consequently, individuals with haemophilia experience excessive bleeding. These bleeding disorders arise from defects in either the blood vessels, the coagulation mechanism, or the blood platelets. Affected individuals may experience spontaneous bleeding or prolonged bleeding following injury or surgical procedures.
